Tanya Desjani is the captain of the battle cruiser Dauntless, the flagship of the Alliance Fleet and the Second Battle Cruiser Division, formerly the Fourth Battle Cruiser Division.

Failed offensive on Syndic Prime[]
Desjani's battle cruiser, the Dauntless was assigned as flagship of the Alliance Fleet under the command of Admiral Bloch and took part in a desperate offensive to end the war by attacking the Syndic homeworld. The Syndic hypernet key that allowed this attack to occur was also placed aboard Dauntless. Whilst traversing through Grendel on the way to Syndic Space, the survival pod of the legendary Captain Geary was discovered and broad abroad Dauntless. Desjani was present when Captain Geary was thawed from survival sleep, and was the one to inform him of his century-long hibernation, and the demise of his crew during that time.
The Alliance Fleet subsequently jumped to Syndic Space and used the Syndic Hypernet to swiftly travel to Prime within weeks, rather than the months it would have taken using jump drives. Unfortunately, however, when the Fleet emerged out of the Syndic Hypernet gate at Prime, the majority of the Syndic fleet was discovered to be waiting in ambush. Captain Desjani succeeded in having Dauntless fight through the ambush, even receiving supporting fire from Dragon. After this her ship regrouped with the rest of the surviving fleet near one of Prime's system jump points.

Captain Desjani is a competent and efficient officer who commands the respect of her crew. Like others in the Alliance Fleet, she loathes the Syndics and takes a particular pleasure in causing as much destruction to the Syndicate Worlds Mobile Defense Force as possible.
