The Second Battle of Prime was the final battle of the Alliance-Syndicate War. The Alliance Fleet emerged from a system jump point to encounter the remnants of the Syndicate Worlds Mobile Defense Force which was largely reduced to a few divisions of capital ships and escorts. The Syndicate military had been reduced to hoping that the Alliance Fleet would arrive once again via the hypernet gate, which was heavily mined and defended by another makeshift defensive barrier of single pilot strike craft operating from improvised bases/suicide merchant vessels.
Following the failure of this trap, the fleet systematically destroyed the fixed system defenses, and engaged the final remaining elements of the Syndicate Worlds Mobile Defense Force in a battle of maneuver, which Admiral Geary won on behalf of the Alliance.

On the way to Prime, the fleet was met by an attack by suicide FACs in Atalia Star System, damaging a heavy cruiser. The heavy cruiser turned back to Varandal for repairs, lowering the number of heavy cruisers to 29.
