The ANS Pommel was an Alliance light cruiser constructed prior to the Alliance-Syndicate War. It was part of a convoy transiting through the star system Grendel when a Syndicate flotilla invaded the system, in transit to attack T'shima.
During the conflict, Pommel remained with the rest of the convoy, taking command of it as Commander John Geary had Merlon move to engage the Syndicate. Despite attempts by a Hunter-Killer to lure the light cruiser away, Pommel continued on track and the convoy successfully made way to T'shima, where they alerted the star system to the incoming attack.
