CEO Grandon was a Syndicate Worlds Mobile Defense Force Chief Executive Officer, charged of the reconquest of Kane rebellious system.
Biography[]
Kane Invasion[]
As the Syndicate had failed several times to reconquer Midway, which was already forming an association of friendly worlds, the Phoenix Stars, they decided to strike again, at the weakest of all their world members. That was Kane, which had suffered a revolution, chaotic civil war and kinetic bombardment which had destroyed all their industry and reduced their cities to rubble, killing most of their population. And that was Grandon's great opportunity. His initial invasion force was composed of a single Heavy Troop Transport Unit and two Heavy cruisers, but after arriving in orbit and asking the immediate surrender of the locals, led by their provisional president, Rhian Wake, he discovered than it won't be so easy: they have lost everything, were determined and thirsty of revenge against the Syndicate loyalists. Furious, Grandon wasted a lot of ammo destroying the emission site... despite it was a simple buoy drifting in the ocean, a relay, and ordered the invasion launching.
Arrival of the Alliance First Fleet[]
In an unknown date later, the invasion force was still fighting, without any apparent success: the local population was safely hidden in underground bunkers, and the defenders were determined to fight. By then, Grandon's fleet had grow to one additional Battle cruiser, two more Heavy Cruisers and seven Hunter-Killers, two Troop Transports and ten modified freighters, and they were expecting more reinforcements. Midway's flotilla was repairing damage after the Battle of Iwa, so they were unable to assist their allies of Kane... but managed to send another of their associates.
A huge section of Alliance First Fleet, led by Admiral John Geary, and Midway's Pele, arrived to force the Syndics to retreat: the Second Battle of Kane had begun.
Grandon, apparently, believed himself a great strategist, so even against a force several times superior to his, and lead by the legendary John Geary, believed he can defeat them, or at least cause them several losses, allowing him to retreat and return to Prime "victorious". The apparition of another expected Syndic Battle Cruiser in a jump point probably reinforced his conviction, and he ordered him to attack the Alliance fleet. However, the apparition of another Syndic flotilla, pursuing the newly arrived Battle Cruiser, informed him than the lone ship wasn't friendly: it was the Corsair, it was crewed by defector Syndic troops and Alliance PoWs, lead by captain Michael Geary.
Probably infuriated by the defection, Grandon ordered his fleet to pursue and destroy Corsair first, leaving the Alliance Fleet for later.
Death[]
Grandon's plan failed due to Michael Geary's experience and cunning: he maneuvered his ship, avoiding serious damage. While the Syndic ships were distracted, the Alliance fleet fall over them, crippling and destroying them one after another. Grandon's Battle Cruiser was crippled, and though some of his crew managed to flee in escape pods, he wasn't mentioned again, so he must have been among those dead aboard the ship.
Characteristics[]
The Midway Flotilla commander, Kommodor Marphissa, suggested than Grandon was from a powerful family, and no one has never tell him no without suffering for it. He hadn't done nothing for himself, but thinks he achieved everything by his own superiority, and than his mission to Kane was his first real mission. She also attributed his confidence to the fact than he must have fought only in simulations configured to ensure he always won.
