Glenlyon is a sovereign planet, which is a full and founding member of the Alliance. It is the home planet of the Geary family, of which the most renowned member is the commander of the Alliance First Fleet, Admiral John Geary. As is required of all Alliance members, Glenlyon is a democracy that contributes its share of the Alliance budget and contributes people to the Alliance military, but little more about its government is known.
It is mentioned that Glenlyon has vast rolling fields. Glenlyon has two minor moons.
History Pre-Alliance[]
During the early days of the colony, it was constantly attacked by hostile colonies like Scatha[1], Apulu, Turan, and Hesta. Thanks to Robert Geary, Mele Darcy, and Ninja, Glenlyon was able to fight off invasion attempts, though frequently at great cost.
Military Structure[]
Ground Forces[]
The Ground Forces were hired form old colonies like Brahma and Amaterasu as well as from Old Earth[2]
Fleet[]
Glenlyon bought two Founders Class destroyers from Earth Fleet including Crews. [3]
Marines[]
Marines were considered part of the Fleet. Major Mele Darcy commanded the Marines throughout the entirety of their service to Glenlyon.
Events in Vanguard (Genesis Fleet Book 1)[]
The first colonist arrived on the bulk-cargo carrier Wingate[1] also referred to as Wingnut. Glenlyon's early council consisted of President Chisholm[1], Odom[1], Kim[1], Leigh Camagan[1] and others not in the defense sub-council.[4] Soon after the colony is established a warship form Scatha arrived and demanded a residency and defense fee. The council asks Robert Geary to present alternative military Options to paying the extortion fee. With the help of Ninja and a group of volunteers, Rob manages to capture the Warship.
