Dancers observing John Geary on Old Earth
Dancers, also known as spider-wolves, BUBs (Big Ugly Bugs) by the Alliance, Callas republic, Rift Federation and Phoenix Stars, ArachoLupin's by the Syndicate Worlds, Eight-legs by the Taon or Tool People by the Wooareek, are the third species of aliens encountered by humanity, and the first of which willing to communicate and ally with them. Named for their elegant ship maneuvering skills, the Dancers are considered masters of engineering, having more advanced technology than anything humanity has, with only one known exception, duct tape.
The dancers refused to share information on their offspring.
They also spend their time locked inside during the night with windows blocking all but visible light This is due to some form of creature (possible their children judging by tone of the text) that prowl the street at that time.
Despite their Wolf and Spider like appearance the Dancers are Herbivores.
