The Audacious was the only Alliance warship of her division to survive the First battle of Lakota, though barely. It was captured by the Syndics, but lacking any weapons and propulsion, it was partially repaired and turned into an Alliance prisoners barracks. However any officers, such as Lieutenant Bailey, were taken to another system.
When the Alliance fleet returned, beginning the Second Battle of Lakota, the Audacious became a priority target. Black Jack's threats to the Syndics caused the Battleship's Syndic forces to ignore the orders to kill the prisoners and instead evacuated the ship.
The Marines easily boarded the Audacious and rescued the prisoners. Geary wanted to scuttle the ship, but came up with the idea to turn her into a large mine and lure the syndicate forces into a disguised minefield. When the Syndic main fleet traversed the destroyed ships, Audacious blew up, along with most of the other Syndic wrecks, helping destroy the bulk of the Syndicate fleet.
